Circuit

Enjoy two looped bush and water trails in this Buderim suburb tucked just behind Kawana and Mooloolaba.

SUITABILITY
Suitable for walkers and recreational cyclists. It’s an easy grade.

HIGHLIGHTS
This nice little circuit in Mountain Creek (sometimes called Mountain Creek Recreation Trail) takes in a range of settings – creekside, wetlands and forest trails. You can see Black butt and Bottle brush, blue wrens and rainbow lorikeets, bush turkeys as well as swamp wallabies and lace monitor lizards.

This is a great option with kids as its roughly a figure 8 circuit so you need only do part. It’s also a great option to get the kids on a bike for the first time as it's relatively flat. There are spots with seating to stop and rest and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Some areas even loop close enough to the creek banks for a watery view.

Access points abound but with limited parking at each one the pinned point, off Parklea Esplanade, has a nice park to start off with.

There are links through the bushland to adjoining residential streets. Other entrance points are Coho Court or Felicia Court.

AFTERWARDS
Pop over to Kawana and have a surf or go to Brightwater (Freshwater St) and do the lake circuit there on foot or bikes before enjoying refreshments at the Brightwater Hotel.

HOW TO GET THERE
To the starting point: Heading north on the Sunshine Motorway take the Mountain Creek exit, turn left into Glenfields Boulevard and right into Parklea Explanade. Park opposite the park. Heading South on the Sunshine Motorway, take the Mountain Creek exit, turn right on to Karawatha Drive and then left onto Prelude Drive which joins Glenfields Boulevard.

To the end point: The end point is the same as your starting point.

Great shady trail. I completed my round trip brisk walk on 60mins. Wide and flat/even path - fine for prams/strollers/aides in dry weather. Mix of vegetation and the creek side views are a bonus. Can connect to the Mountain Creek Trail from adjacent parks with concrete paths in bush and creekside setting before on soft path. I parked off Karawatha Dr near Gymea Ct. Dog on leads are welcome is a plus for dog owners looking for a bush setting. We are fortunate to have this asset in the “suburbs”. I will visit again.

This trail was easy to find using the Adventure Sunshine Coast website. The trail is undergoing some maintenance which did not affect our walk/cycle. The Creek is running nicely. The trail was flat as described on the website. I would recommend all ages to enjoy this shady trail.

Buderim Walks: Mountain Creek Circuit The Adventure Sunshine Coast website showed us the various access points to enjoy the Mountain Creek Circuit on our walk. Some of the trail was closed due to maintenance of the large pond. The track which was open was in good condition even after heavy rain. A highlight on our walk was watching and listening to the water flow over rocks in the creek, the large Blackbutt trees and a ferny section of trail which you could imagine is an enchanted forest from a book. The trail description matched the website description especially in that it was flat and easy to walk. I would recommend the trail as it is shaded most of the day due to the dense rainforest and the peaceful sounds of nature including the birdlife.

Numerous access points to this track. Plenty of spots to sit and enjoy the bush. Nice wide paths to see oncoming bikes and walkers. A peaceful spot in the heart of the Sunshine Coast.

A great track for the little ones to gain confidence with its flat track and mix of paved path, gravel, and a footbridge to ride across. Lovely views of the river system. Bring mozzie spray.

Easy walking track behind Mountain Creek residential area. Beautiful spot for a walk through large eucalyptus woodland along the meandering creekline. Whilst walking through, the wildflowers were in bloom contrasting a beautiful display of various colours and smells. Lovely spot.
