Suitability

Suitable for walkers, prams and wheelchairs and recreational cyclists. It’s an easy grade.

Highlights

Wheelchair and grandfolk friendly, Family Park in Montville is just that. Perfect to stroll off all the coffee and cake and other delectables from Montville’s many main street café’s. Or take a seat and watch the ducks or grey herons on the lake or your kids in the playground. It’s right in town, so take a peek and enjoy. At certain times of year you can enjoy flowering trees. At other times, there are lots of ferns and water plants to admire.

This newly developed 7.3 ha park features a wooden band stand, a windmill, two lakes, with signed heritage walking paths and hills for children to safely roll down. At the northern end is a rainforest and a flying fox that even adults can enjoy.

Afterwards

Take a picnic or BBQ supplies and enjoy a relaxed lunch in the park or stroll through Montville’s main street and revive yourself at one of the many establishments. For some more excitement head to Kondilla Falls, only 5 mins drive away.

How to get there

To the starting point: Head to the Montville Visitor information Centre on Main St, just past Western Avenue. At the Centre there is an off street car park. Walk or cycle though the carpark and you will find the park.

To the end point: The end point is the same as your starting point.

Accessibility guide

Flat, wide concrete paths weave through the gardens, well suited to wheelchairs and mobility aids. There is a large car park at the entrance plus accessible bays a short distance away on Main Street, and benches with back and arm rests along the way.

A visit to the picturesque village of Montville, perched charmingly atop the Blackall Range is an absolute 'must-do' in any tourist's book. But for us locals, a visit to this boutique-y little village is an opportunity to just breathe in deeply, to inhale the fresh mountain air and to celebrate what our local region has to offer. Much to our delight, we discovered the tucked away hidden gem that is Russell Family Park - an inviting green space that can be enjoyed by families all year round. I have been to Montville a dozen times and not known this beauty was here!! Such a beautiful spot. Heaps of parking, clean and well kept facilities, lovely lake to walk around and a great park for the kids. I definitely recommend this spot for families!
