Accessibility guide
Opens on a wide concrete path of 1.5m or more, but at a gradient of about 7% that is hard work in a manual wheelchair and better suited to a powered chair or power-assist. Past the Outside Classroom the surface changes to gravel.
The initial part of the Whipbird Walk features a wide concrete path, measuring 1.5 metres or more. This provides a good surface for rolling, but it's important to note that the gradient is approx. 7%, which can be quite difficult for a manual wheelchair to handle. It is better suited for powered wheelchairs or those equipped with power-assist technology. Once you reach the Outside Classroom, the trail transitions to a gravel path, offering a different terrain to explore.
The suitability of the Whipbird Walk depends on individual mobility needs and equipment used. While it may pose challenges for those relying solely on manual mobility aids, individuals with powered devices or assistive off-road equipment can still enjoy the trail.
As you follow the loop, keep your senses tuned to the distinctive call of the whipbird, a native Australian bird renowned for its unique vocalisation. The forested environment provides a suitable habitat for various bird species, giant spiders and exotic butterflies offering excellent opportunities for spotting wildlife.
- Accessible parking is available.
- Accessible toilet facilities are provided.
The Gardens are located at 51 Palm Creek Road, Tanawha QLD. Take the Sippy Downs, Buderim exit off the Bruce Highway, then take the Tanawha Tourist Drive turnoff (25) and follow the signs for Maroochy Regional Bushland Botanical Gardens.
