Trail type

Circuit

A surprisingly quiet and varied bushland reserve just metres from the surf at Alexandra Beach.

SUITABILITY
The trail is suitable for walkers.

HIGHLIGHTS
Tucked away a few blocks from the beach, this small reserve might be just the ticket if you are short on time. Alex Forest Conservation Area is 5.7 hectares of revegetated forest just 250 metres from the beach, offering 1 kilometre of walking trails.

In this reserve you’ll find a great diversity of habitat including Wet Eucalypt open forest (Flooded Gum, Bushbox and Tallwood) and Lowland rainforest including cabbage and palm trees. The park is an important suburban wildlife preserve for ringtail possums and micro bats.

AFTERWARDS
While here, enjoy a stroll through the Nelson Park and Alex Community Garden that spans Mari Street and Okinja Road. Of course there is the coastal strip with the beach, shops, restaurants and conveniences.

HOW TO GET THERE
To the starting point: On the Sunshine Coast Motorway take the Mooloolaba Road exit and head to the coast (not Buderim). Take the second left into Pacific Terrace. At the end of this street turn left onto Alexandra Parade and take the next left into Mari Street. There is on street parking across from the field or bowling alley. The walk starts here just across from the conference center entrance.

The park can also be accessed from Tranquil Place and Woyin Street.

To the end point: The end point is the same as the starting point. Note you can do a circuit through the park and out to the beach and back if you'd prefer.

Great little walk about 1km through various forest types from tall Eucalyptus trees to a cabbage tree palm forest. Bonus it’s just a few hundred metres from a Alex patrolled beach and cafes and restaurants.

Love walking through this area. I am very lucky to have it virtually on my back door step ! It’s nice to look out my kitchen window and see the beautiful scenery off the tree line. It’s nice to adventure through talk the small pathways. The volunteers do a great job of maintaining and caring for it.
