Escape the hustle and bustle and relax on this short 2km paddle which borders the tranquil Maroochy River Conservation Park.

SUITABILITY
Suitable for beginner paddlers. Best at high tide as it can be quite shallow even for stand-up paddle boards in some sections.

HIGHLIGHTS
Bill Kear Waterway is truly a surprising escape into tranquillity. As soon as you leave the roadside noise behind, there is only the sound of your paddle on the water, the whisper of the wind through the trees and the melodic sounds of birds drifting out of the nearby conservation zone.
Just under 2km long, this paddle allows you a close-up view of a fish breeding area as the waterway is alive with baby mullet and other fish species. Although shallow and not very wide in places, there are a few opportunities to pull up against a bank and walk through to the conservation zone which borders the banks of the waterway.
Be sure to have some insect repellent with you as the zone is very sheltered. Even on a windy day the waterway is protected.

AFTERWARDS
The waterway access is only just past the Twin Waters Shopping Village so pop back here for refreshments or into the Novotel Twin Waters Resort a little further down the road.
Mudjimba Beach is not far away either if you want to take a swim – it is not recommended to swim in the waterway due to submerged timbers.

HOW TO GET THERE
To the starting point: Parking available at the side of Ocean Drive and the waterway has a sandy launch point on the right hand side.

To the end point: The end point is the same as the starting point.

Nice secluded section for beginners paddlers. Not much wind or waves. Built my confidence to go for more challenging waters!
