Follow a more strenuous looped circuit in this popular sanctuary on the eastern side of Buderim.
SUITABILITY
Suitable for walkers of intermediate level. People in wheelchairs or prams can enjoy the paved section of this loop.
HIGHLIGHTS
There are 4 main walks in this sanctuary (many under 1 km) and this mapped route combines two of these: the Botanic Track Walk (easy to moderate) and the Cascade Track (moderate to difficult).
Start off on Botanic Track Walk and head to your left. You will follow a sealed path through a relatively young rainforest as you weave your way past native plantings with description and pretty flowing creeks.
About two-thirds the way around, take the Cascade Circuit Track and descend to the water course that permanently flows over the basalt racks – the cascades! Then of course you have to ascend back up the hill. At the trails fork veer to the left to enjoy a different path back to the Botanic Track.
It's an enjoyable circuit with refreshing creeks and falls. Take your camera and take your time to really enjoy it.
You can choose to do this loop starting from the bottom of the park, accessed from Jeune Drive.
AFTERWARDS
Do one of the side walks – they are not too long, or relax in the park where there are picnic shelters, playground, BBQ and toilet facilities.
The Buderim township with its many cafes is close by as is Buderim Forest Park for other walks.
HOW TO GET THERE
To the starting point: Make your way to the Buderim main shopping precinct (Main Street). Continue along Main Street (which turns in Kings Street) and continue through the roundabout towards Mooloolaba Road. Travel a short distance before turning left into Foote Avenue. Proceed through the first roundabout to Fountain Road and take the first left into Park Lane. Travel to the end of Park Lane and have reached the official Sanctuary entrance. There is plenty of parking and facilities to enjoy – walk under the beautiful entrance archway and being your journey!
To the end point: The end point is the same as your starting point.
